Energy and Environmental Services
NCHA is committed to maximising energy efficiency and promoting environmental sustainability in its work. To demonstrate this commitment NCHA has produced a number of policies.
-
Affordable Warmth Strategy - to ensure tenants have a home they can afford to keep warm to an acceptable comfort standard and that the environment of the home contributes to the good health of its occupants.
-
Energy Policy - to maximise energy efficiency in all areas of its work.
- Environmental Policy - to promote environmental sustainability when carrying out the work of the association.
- Fairtrade and Recycling - NCHA is a long-term supporter of Fairtrade products and all main offices run paper and cardboard recycling schemes.
Energy Certificates
These will be required for all houses. The national study looks at ways of utilising the certificates to encourage greater energy efficiency and carbon savings, NCHA is one of the lead housing associations in this study.
The Association has also been instrumental in the development of the following products:
- Energy Services Directory - A definitive guide for those in social housing wishing to develop or expand their energy services.
- Pathways to PV (Photovoltaics) - A step by step guide to the development of a PV scheme in a social housing organisation.
