Housing with Care and Support
The Core Business

Background Information
In addition to the general needs rented homes, NCHA has a seperate department called Housing with Care and Support (HWCS) which provides specialist housing as its name suggests.
NCHA had already managed a number of care and support schemes, previously known as "special projects", but in 1993 the seperate department was set up in response to the changes in legislation following the Community Care Act 1990.
In total HWCS provides just over 1500 bed spaces of accomodation in over 250 properties for people with housing and support/care needs. It is the largest single Housing Association provider of such accomodation in the East Midlands region.
The turnover for Housing with Care and Support in the financial year 2006/2007 was £22 million.
We have nearly 600 directly employed staff and over 100 seconded from the NHS.
NCHA has a union recognition agreement with UNISON and MSF.
NCHA is comitted to staff development at all levels and is accredited as an "Investors in People". All staff have a formal induction and training appropriate to their job. HWCS also have a system of formal performance management which supports individual staff members’ personal development plans.
